Today, the Canadian Artful Adventures class learned about the Group of Seven artists and their fascination with our Canadian wilderness.
They learned about the word “landscape”. Each student then experimented with colour by making tints of a colour. The students added a bit of white to blue and saw how light they could go, in stages. Then, they added a bit of black and made shades of the blue. Finally, they made greys, using a combination of the two techniques.
Their drawings to prepare for their painting were stylized mountains, clouds, sky and ice floes in the water. It was a chilly painting for a chilly day. Take a look at their wonderful work!
Mini Masters 4,5 yr olds Starry Winter Night Class
Today, the younger artists used acrylic paints, texture tools aka forks! painted with q-tips, learned to make spirals and stars and broken moving lines in celebration of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night. They did a fantastic job and added some finishing touches with their own hand-drawn little gold stars. Take a look at their work. It’s pretty starlit! Our own little 2 1/2 yr old guest artist ( my youngest daughter) participated too!
